Who am I?

Medical Resident

I'm a prelim internal medicine resident at The University of Toledo, my home town.

Amateur Mountain Biker

In my free time, I like to take my bike out to the local trails to either leisurely enjoy nature or aggressively attack my previous best pace.

Video Game Enthusiast

Sometimes, a good video game is all you need to escape the stress of life for a minute. Other times, it can be the source of more stress. This is a very dangerous coin flip.

A Rare Anatomic Variant of Double Replaced Hepatic Arteries: A Case Report and Brief Review of the Anomalous Hepatic Vasculature Literature.

(2021)

"We report a rare anatomical variant of the hepatic vasculature. The significance of this variant must be considered during preoperative planning and the intra-arterial infusion of targeted drugs. This case further emphasizes the importance of proper medical imaging and documentation to ensure the best course of treatment for each patient. Given that this variant has only so far been identified in 2 post-mortem subjects, further work should include attempts at characterizing its physiologic effects in a living patient."

Diagnosing cystic duct patency during myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), using Tc99m Sestamibi (MIBI), as an adjunct benefit in the acute setting.

(2020)

"In this article, we introduce a novel method to diagnose cystic duct patency in the acute setting thus effectively ruling out acute cholecystitis, during MPI. Our method can potentially improve patient outcomes by reducing the volume of imaging needed to exclude a diagnosis of acute gallbladder pathology. This in turn, keeps in line with decreasing the cost for the patient, leading to a more sound value-based care."

Construction and validation of UV-C decontamination cabinets for filtering facepiece respirators

(2020)

"We present evidence-based design principles for three different UV-C based decontamination systems for N95 filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs) within the context of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak of 2019–2020. The approaches used here were created with consideration for the needs of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and other under-resourced facilities. As such, a particular emphasis is placed on providing cost-effective solutions that can be implemented in short order using generally available components and subsystems."

Halim Clinic

"Halīm Clinic aims to improve the well-being of patients in the Toledo area. We hope to deliver effective, quality care to patients who cannot afford medical insurance by drawing on the character and generosity of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as a role model."

The Halim clinic opened in 2019 with the goal of providing free, patient centered care for the uninsured and under insured in our local community. The initiative started as a group of physicians providing blood pressure screenings at a local mosque. When I joined the initiative, I directly oversaw the clinic's growth as we moved into our own office space and expanded into offering primary care, women's health, psychiatry, dental, medication dispensing, and lab work all at absolutely no cost to our community.

Step 1 Rad Review

I love radiology. I love education. I believe that radiology education can be improved greatly, especially as it pertains to medical students. For these reasons, I decided to create a video series to help preclinical students approach radiology in a user friendly manner.  So far, I've only made my "Step 1 Rad Review" course which walks students through high yield imaging findings in preparation for their USMLE Step 1 examination. In the future, I look forward to making more tutorials and hope to make a meaningful impact on the curriculum taught in schools.
